    The purpose of this project is to see how seeds will show germination  with different amounts of sodium chloride salt. For our project we had been assigned by Mr. Bursch the savoy cabbage seeds. We were in groups of 4 and my group consisted of Me, Yordi, Alejandro, and Isaac. We all received 10 seeds from Mr. Bursch. There was different types of water with different concentrations of salt. There was 8% 4% 1% and the control group was 0% which had no concentration of salt. I got 1%, Yordi got the control group or 0% , Alejandro got 8% and Isaac got 4%. For the first days of the school year we have them in zip lock bags with wet tissue paper and evenly spaced them out. Now for the days to come we will see which ones will sprout and which ones that might not sprout and see what concentration of salt can the seeds withstand to actually grow with a certain level of salt. After the seeds have germinated we will put them in pots full of soil and start watering and growing them there. Eventually we will choose from the ten seeds that we put in the pot and transport them to the Willow Glen Garden we have in the school. There we will continue to grow them and hopefully have them reach a stage where they begin to reproduce and make seeds.

Blog Post #7:        In order for our plant to have been planted in the first place, we would need seeds. We got these through a very important process. It all began with another plant, that when it got big enough, began to grow flowers. These flowers would have multiple parts, including the anthers, stigma, stamen, carpel, and ovules. First, the flower would use the anthers to produce pollen, which is basically the sperm for plants. Then a Bee would pick up that pollen from the flowers and bring it to another flower. This bee would land on the carpel, and the pollen would get stuck on the stigma, because of their sticky tip. Post #6 The Story Of The Seed

1) So when my plant uses Photosynthesis it makes energy for it self to survive. Photosynthesis begins when the plant receives water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide. After that it dos the process and releases oxygen because it doesn't use a lot of it and it also produces glucose or sometimes food like fruit because it uses it as energy. Then when the plant breathes out oxygen all the energy it made is used. It is used for plant growth, flower for\ation and fruit production. Since the energy is used for plant growth that means it has the energy of its cells to begin to multiply by the process of mitosis. The beginning of mitosis is interphase, when the cell is preparing itself to divide. Then comes prophase when the chromosomes of the cell are now visable. Then metaphase comes and the chromosomes align in the middle for the fibers to attach to them. Then anaphase comes and the spindle fibers begin to split the chromosomes in half. Blog #8 TSOTS

Final Blog Post 1) The part of the plant with the biggest variation are the leaves because they come in many different sizes and shapes like on my plant it has oval leaves that are very large with green veins. The characteristic with the most variation is the stem of the plants. Some plants have normal green stems but most have purple stems with purple veins on the leaves. Also some variation are in the plants height. My plant is the shortest plant in the garden bed and the plant behind it is the tallest one and some are in the middle, but no brassica plant is the same height. 2) There is a lot of variability in the forms of the brassica plants because of genes and traits.
